I love snacks. I love the salty ones. I adore the sugary ones. One of my favorite things about going to parties or celebrating holidays (besides of course, being with loved ones) is the assortment of snacks you get to enjoy. Dips, appetizers, chips, and the sweet, beautiful desserts are very hard to resist.
I love the saying that life is short and you should “eat the cake.” But currently, I’m trying to stay far away from cake. While I did lose weight during my first month of Weight Watchers, it wasn’t quite as much as I would have liked. For as many calories as I have cut I feel as if I should be losing more.
This month I’m readjusting a few things. I’m focusing more on what I am eating as well as portion control. I went to a birthday party over the weekend and snacked on fruit and veggies instead of the delicious cheese dip and chicken nuggets. And I forced my mom to get a piece of cake so that I could eat two bites of it. Two delicious, sugary bites.
It might be a long month. I avoided Super Bowl snacks like they were the plague. I closed my eyes every time I walked past a scrumptious box of donuts the other day at work. And let me tell you, this has been so freaking hard. I just have to remind myself that being a healthier weight will be so good for me.
I miss you dear snacks. I promise to return to you someday (in moderation!), but for now, I’m not going to eat the dang cake.
